8 day Juice Feast

I am doing a 8 day juice feast. Starting today I will drink goji water and water with lemon.
Here is a menu of what I will be drinking throughout the week.
It is important to be organized while doing a juice fast. I have printed out my menu and I will hang it in the kitchen. When I wake up each day I will juice for the day and store them in glass mason jars. I work a 42 hour week and I go to school 2 nights a week. I am also a wife and mother. Being Organized is the key for me in staying raw and when I do a juice feast. Having your menu set and posted takes the thinking out of it. It becomes effortless so you can truly enjoy the beauty and healing this lifestyle brings.

Best Pickles Ever!

Raw Pickles

¾ cup Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
3 Tbls. Sea Salt
2 Tbls. Cumin
3 Garlic cloves (whole but slightly smashed)
1 Tbls. Pickling spice
1 Jalapeño (sliced without seeds)
6/8 Pickling cucumbers (sliced ½ in length)
1 bunch of dill

Use a large mouth mason jar that is sterile. Line the bottom with a few sprigs of dill. In a cup mix all the items together except dill and cucumbers.

Once ingredients are mixed pour liquid in the Mason jar. Place the cucumbers along the side of the jar; fill the rest of the jar with water. Put on the lid and shake a few times then place jar in the refrig.

Wait 24 hours and then ENJOY!

I recommend making several batches because these pickles are out of the world.

Young Thai Coconut Water

Just a little tip for all you runners or if you are feeling low energy, sick, run down; I just ran 12 miles this morning. Let me just say that I did not start out as a runner. When I first started my raw journey I could only run 3 minutes at a time. Over the last 11 months I have worked my run up to 12 miles. I now usually run 3x a week, 2 short runs of 6 miles and then a long run on Saturday. I am currently training for a 1/2 marathon. While running with a group on Saturdays I was saddened to see all the water tables throughout our run were filled with tons of candy, sports drinks and water. People were running 3 or 4 miles and then crabbing handfuls of jelly beans or gummy bears. Now, I understand people need energy while they are running. But we are running to stay healthy why would be want to fill my body with foods that are not healthy. That is when I realized people might not know there is an alternative. I am here to tell you “THERE IS!” The alternative is Thai Young Coconut water and Dates. When I run I fill my water bottles with thai coconut water and I always have some dates in my pack. During my run and after I fuel my body with the coconut water. All I can say is WOW! When I have my coconut water with me I can always plan on having a strong run and I know I am going to feel great throughout the whole thing. So what does coconut water have in it to make you feel so good? Let me show you…
“It’s a natural isotonic beverage, with the same level of electrolytic balance as we have in our blood. It’s the fluid of life, so to speak.” In fact, during the Pacific War of 1941-45, both sides in the conflict regularly used coconut water – siphoned directly from the nut – to give emergency plasma trasfusions to wounded soldiers.

Most coconut water is still consumed fresh in tropical coastal areas – once exposed to air, the liquid rapidly loses most of its organoleptic and nutritional characteristics, and begins to ferment.

Coconut Water is More Nutritious than whole milk – Less fat and NO cholesterol!
Coconut Water is More Healthy than Orange Juice – Much lower calories
Coconut Water is Better than processed baby milk- It contains lauric acid, which is present in human mother’s milk
Coconut water is naturally sterile — Water permeates though the filtering husk!
Coconut water is a universal donor– Its identical to human blood plasma
Coconut Water is a Natural Isotonic Beverage – The same level we have in our blood.
Coconut water has saved lives in 3rd world countries thru Coconut IV.
“Coconut water is the very stuff of Nature, biologically Pure, full of Natural Sugars, Salts, and Vitamins to ward off fatigue… and is the next wave of energy drinks BUT natural!”, according to Mortin Satin, Chielf of the United Nation’s Food & Agriculture Organization.

Coconut water contains more potassium (at about 294 mg) than most sports drinks (117 mg) and most energy drinks.

Coconut water has less sodium (25mg) where sports drinks have around 41mg and energy drinks have about 200 mg!

Coconut water has 5mg of Natural Sugars where sports and energy drinks range from 10-25mg of Altered Sugars.

Coconut water is very high in Chloride at 118mg, compared to sports drinks at about 39mg.

Data is based on a 100ml drink.

I love to keep coconuts in my refrig. for when I have a run or if the children are feeling sick or when my husband is just feeling run down. I recommend you give it a try.
